I've set up a Tumblr account

I've begun setting it up, and I plan on using this as my dev-blog, mainly because it has a richer mobile experience than Blogger, allowing me to crank out quick notes to the blog, and then compile them at a later date. This also allows me to share my ideas quicker with those who are interested.

I'm still working out the kinks in the setup process, but I hope to have it done by the end of tomorrow. Then, since I was "given off" Monday and Tuesday by my superiors, I don't have to work until Friday of next week. Whoop whoop??

Oh, and I'm also considering dropping the di- prefix from the title, and just sticking with Project Metro. However, the di- prefix is the Greek Cardinal prefix for '2,' as I'm sure I can do something with that in the game.

[RUMOR] Will Nintendo reveal a new system at GDC?

We haven't reached the one-month countdown yet, and we're already getting retard-crazy rumors started up.

This first rumor is that Nintendo already has a new system in the pipeline, devs are already working on it, and they're set to unveil it at GDC next month.

What could be misconstrued as a new system yet to be talked about is that Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the DSi XL to North America; they simply did a follow up at the Japanese unveiling to mention the North American and European name and a release window. There hasn't been a press conference talking about it. This could simply be Nintendo bringing DSi XL news stateside.

Another way you can take this is - bear with me - the Wii HD. This has to be said in the rumor mill, because when you hear "Nintendo" and "new system," you immediately think of the Wii HD.

Finally, Nintendo could finally confirm they are bat-shit crazy by unveiling a new GameBoy. That's right, a new GameBoy. Fucking retarded, right? So retarded, you'd buy one. Just like the iPad.

Get your Heavy Rain Demo...now

I got the story from Kotaku, in which if you go to the Heavy Rain Four Days site, sign up - there have been issues - and select the proper evidence, it'll spit out a code to download the Heavy Rain demo from the European PSN, today, 6 days before it actually comes out. Signing up gets you a PSHome shirt.

For me, the shirt is useless; I do not care one bit about Home. For the demo? Meh, I still need to beat Bayonetta, so that clears up some head room. Hell, I'll probably throw these on eBay and score a few bucks off of them.

I gave up on No More Heroes 2

Done. I'm finished. I can't fucking stand Pizza Batt or whatever his name is any more. I thought the samurai on the bike was hard. I thought Nathan Copeland was hard. None compare to the horseshit strategies Suda 51 thought were fun during the final battle. 3 phases? Why do games have bosses with multiple phases anymore? I don't get it. Stop doing it. They get more and more bat-shit crazy each level up (pun not intended), and I cannot take it anymore.

Fuck the final boss in NMH2.

[JAPAN ONLY] No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise gets preorder incentive, PS3 version censored?

Images via Siliconera

Both of these stories comes from Siliconera, a blog that I've never heard of, but thinking about bookmarking, considering this is the only place that I'm finding news on No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise, the Japan-only, HD-remake for the PS3 and 360.

Siliconera has info on a preorder bonus offered by Marvelous, supposedly the publisher in Japan - although their Wikipedia page has not been update with this info - will be handing out art books dubbed as "erotica portraits," and each system gets their own...flavor.

PS3 gets the "sexy cherry," and they've only shown one full portrait of one, Ms. Sylvia Christel, the cute little blonde thing that sets up Travis' fights. She's eating cherries while sitting on a toilet. Awesome. There are 3 previews of the other portraits, which include an obvious Shinobu, a less obvious Naomi, and one that I can't figure out.

The 360 version gets "sweet mango," with, again, Sylvia on the can eating mangoes. I must say this before I go futher: she's not using the toilet, she's just simply sitting on it. Reading this, and knowing Japan, I would have thought the same without that tidbit. The preview portraits include another Sylvia, a crotch shot of some female, and the femme fatale of the game, Shinobu, but drawn in a realistic format, not the cartoonish style for the PS3.

[WTF?] Microsoft shutting down Xbox Live services for Original Xbox games

In a move that first got a raised eyebrow from me, and then 10 seconds later an "Ah ha!" moment befell me, Microsoft is shutting down Xbox Live services for Xbox games and systems. That would mean that Original Xbox titles won't be getting their daily juicing of Xbox Live, but would that also mean that no more OXB titles wouldn't be hitting the service? I'm fairly sure you can upload some good Xbox games onto the service and not hamper it. Would those OXB games that were downloaded (all 7 of them) cease to exist or function? There are some questions that Microsoft has yet to answer.

The good part about this is that Microsoft can do two things now, both of which they said development or implementation couldn't proceed past planning phase because of Xbox Live service on the Xbox: a friend list of over 100 people and "mobile tie-ins," as Engadget puts it. What would constitute a "mobile tie-in," you say? Remember Microsoft talking about a service called Xbox Live Anywhere, where you could access your XBL account from your mobile, check on your friends, compare achievements on the go, and, yes, play certain games - your Xbox Live Arcade games - that can be played without joysticks or need the fast responsiveness of contextual buttons (see: Peggle)? Yea, that little guy. Well, development on that can now proceed and, hopefully, get an official iPhone app over than feature-lacking or slow-as-all-hell apps. What? Microsoft has given us Seadragon and Bing apps, so asking for a Live Anywhere app? Yea, I can see the problem, but why wouldn't they make one for the iPho...oh yea, that's right, the whole Apple-Microsoft thing. Right.

Read Xbox Live's General Manager Marc Whitten's letter in regards to the matter past the break.

Project Needlemouse is Sonic the Hedgehog 4

Dear, sweet, merciful baby jesus, you do grant wishes!

As the headline implies, Project Needlemouse is, in fact, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, a direct sequel to Sonic & Knuckles (which, for those who don't know their Sonic history, was basically Sonic 3, part 2, as they couldn't fit the entire game onto one Genesis cartridge, so they broke the game in half, similar to Matrix 2 and 3). This has got to be, by far, the best news I've heard in a very long time.

As you can see, it's going to be episodic, as the 1st episode will be releases "this summer."

Holy shit, I cannot wait.

Doppleganger Week on Facebook: Who's Your Doppleganger?

What is supposedly a week has turned into longer, and I got sucked into it, but only for one reason: someone at work thought I looked like Nero from Devil May Cry 4. I took it a step further and thought about Dante, consider they look similar to one another:

I took an image of the DMC4 collector's tin and put a different image of Dante on there, simply because there wasn't much of Dante there to begin with. I also don't have any images of myself that are very flattering, or actually show a good comparison, so use your imagination. Or put dirty blonde hair on both of them and shazam.

[WORK NOTE] FFXIII Ships on 3 discs, Sony considering PSPgo relaunch?

It's been a while since I've done one of these, and there were two interesting stories that I caught while at work.

Final Fantasy XIII on 3 Discs According to GameFly, their listing for the game has been updated, reflecting a very interesting piece of info, giving renters-to-be a warning:

NOTE: This is a three disc game, but it only counts as one disc against your rental plan.

Yea, 3 discs. I'd believe it, simply because Square said a little while ago that 3 discs was their goal. Actually, considering the track records with "goals," there is reason for suspect here.

Sony Considering Relaunching/Rebranding the PSPgo Now this is something I'd be looking forward to. According to unnamed sources to Gamervision, they site them by saying Sony is looking into efforts to relaunch - or even rebrand, and seeing as how that helps them with every iteration of their home console lines, I would not doubt this claim - the PSPgo with "a marketing blitz in hopes to rekindle some sort of excitement over the handheld...and there's little doubt a price drop might be among them." A price drop? Again, that would be something for me to consider, but until they live up to their word on the UMD-to-digital conversion program, then there won't be a PSPgo in my house for a long time.

Back to that "UMD-to-digital" thing, my claim is that Sony needs to do with PSP and UMD what they're doing with Blu-ray: Digital Copy. It's a hit with DVD and Blu-ray, and it's something I love. Having Digital Copy for UMD games would be awesome. Then again, who's to say that you could rip an .iso file from TBP or Demonoid and dump it to a PSPgo running custom firmware and homebrew? It's what 360 modders do...

New Releases : February : Wet T-Shirt Contest Edition

Another month means more video games. Not jam-packed as one would think, considering all of last year's delays, but the severity each game brings with itself makes up for the lack of releases.

Two games that involves a lot of wet - be it in-game or on-box - some well-welcomed DLC, and an unfortunate delay.

February 9
  • BioShock 2 (360, PS3)
  • Dante's Inferno (360, PS3)
    February 16
    • Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (DS)
    February 17
    • Resident Evil 5 DLC: Lost in Nightmares
    February 18
    • Assassin's Creed II DLC: Bonfire of the Vanities (XBLM, PSN)
      February 23
      • Heavy Rain (PS3)
      • Splinter Cell: Conviction (360) [delayed: April 2010]

For those in the music-scene, Story of the Year's new CD is out this month, as well as the Craig Owens-led supergroup Isles & Glaciers finally releases their EP sometime this month, as Craig said he "heard" it's supposed to release sometime in February.
