Goodbye, DualShock 3! Hello...Xbox Controller?

For ages, those who HATE the DualShock 3 - for a better term, let's use "absolutely fucking despise" - there's only been a few third-party solutions while we wait for Sony to revise their controller design from 15 years ago. You've got Nyko's Raven and Power A's PS3 Pro Elite, among a smorgasbord of bullshit that others think can do the Xbox controller justice. Power A's controller (above) has been deemed "the best PlayStation 3 controller right now, precisely because it's not shaped like a PS3 controller." Well said, Gizmodo. Well said.

For those who feel the Xbox 360 controller is the best controller on the market (this guy does, among many), the only solution we've had for actually using an Xbox controller on the PS3 was Ben Heck's sexy amalgamation that gutted the Xbox wireless controller, crammed in the DualShock 3's innards, sprinkled some magic and unicorn blood in it and got this wonderful beauty you see on your left.

This is, by far, the best option in terms of form and functionality (if you don't have the cunning, or cash, don't even bother). However, I lack the soldering/bread boarding skills that Ben has and the cash that anyone that's not working for retail has themselves.

I did, however, find this:

[WHY?!] Microsoft Making Kinect Bowling Ball Accessory

External image

Slap this under "fucking retarded", because Microsoft announced a bowling ball accessory for Kinect.

Yea, like that won't cause a few TVs to break. At least Best Buy will enjoy selling you a TV with an Xbox/Kinect bundle and the bowling ball, and laugh as you come in a week later to replace the damned thing.

Couldn't even begin to think who the fuck came up with the idea and why they weren't laughed out of the office.

Here's How The New 360 Controller Should Have Looked Like

Because, you know, monochrome was so 20 years ago.

"New" Xbox 360 Controller with the transforming D-Pad - also known as Aberdeen - with the monochrome face buttons swapped out with colored face buttons from an old 360 controller of mine. Took about 10 minutes. All you need a Torx T9 screwdriver with a security bit hole. If you can use a screwdriver, you can do this; you don't need to be Ben Heck.

360 Wireless-N Adapter Reappears at Cosco, Cheaper, Ships Tuesday for Free

Well, it seems like this just won't die until the damn thing is out.

Coming out of Engadget, someone pointed out to them that Cosco is listing the Wireless-N adapter for November 10 for, catch it, $88. Oh, and free shipping. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Best part? They've got a better picture of, not the packaging, but the unit itself. They look like press shots, so it seems as if Microsoft has...5 days to say something. Seems as if my prediction of the 10th got NAILED.

I should start a "NAILED" board, just like Colbert. Now that would be awesome.

Check the pics after the break.

Xbox 360's Wireless N Adapter Gone Missing

Remember finding out about the N capable WNA for the 360, and then wanting one? Well, today was supposedly the release day (I had it pegged as next Tuesday in my calendar), and it's gone missing from virtually every online shopping area. The only place Google Shopping turns up is Buy.com with a "sold out" sticker on the page.

Kotaku says a branch of Amazon (read - not the US) has a date of the 20th up. Make of it what you will.

More UK-Exclusive Limited Editions

Ready for a trifecta that will blow you mind? So, we all know of my bitching and ranting when it comes to the UK getting exclusive limited editions of games, right? Sit down tight, because shit is about to get real.

Black Wii Remote and Nunchuk Price/Date Revealed

Image via Joystiq

It's finally official: You can score a black Wiimote and Nunchuck on November 16. The Nunchuk is your standard, $20 fare. The Wiimote, as previously announced, will come bundled with the MotionPlus attachment, selling for $50 together ($60 is bought separately).

Still no word on that black Wii we've been clamoring for, but, knowing Nintendo, don't hold your breath for it.

Black Wiimote With MotionPlus Combo Announced for US, New DSi Colors

A step in the right direction, Nintendo today announced that North American gamers (whether this is US, Canada, or both) will be able to get their grubby little hands on the black controllers Japan gamers have already had.

The black Wii Remote and MotionPlus bundle is exactly that, a combo package with both accessories. Since Nintendo is not one to skimp on price, expect to pay the full $59.99 when it hits this holiday.

To go along with this, they have also announced the black Nunchuck with the Wii Remote combo. You didn't think they'd leave you hanging with a white nunchuck and black Wii Remote, now did you? Same deal, no price (expect the normal $19.99) or date.

And finally, in the same presser, Nintendo has announced the first two colors for the DSi since the systems launch: Pink and White. No fancy names yet, just pink and white.
