Why You Should Buy Resistance 3's Doomsday Edition

I've been putting off buying Resistance 3 for a number of reasons (primarily, I have Deus Ex, a full-time student's worth of classes and assignments, Dead Island on the way from GameFly and work), but after seeing what the Doomsday Edition offers, I've convinced myself that it's definitely worth the price.

The Doomsday Edition is $150. With that, you get:

  • Resistance 3
  • Sharpshooter Gun chassis
  • PlayStation Eye
  • Move Motion Controller
  • Move Navigation Controller
If you were to buy them separately, you'd be spending $210. Already, you're saving $60; that's basically Sony giving you the goddamned game for free.

Sure, it only works for those who don't have anything Move related, but have been wanting to get into the fray (this guy) for a while now. I've heard some bad things about the sharpshooter gun attachment, but given time, the learning curve subsides.

I may not pick it up immediately (specifically for the reasons above), but for anyone even thinking about buying it, then you should be walking out of the store Tuesday morning with one nestled under your arm.

New Releases : February : Wet T-Shirt Contest Edition

Another month means more video games. Not jam-packed as one would think, considering all of last year's delays, but the severity each game brings with itself makes up for the lack of releases.

Two games that involves a lot of wet - be it in-game or on-box - some well-welcomed DLC, and an unfortunate delay.

              February 9
              • BioShock 2 (360, PS3)
              • Dante's Inferno (360, PS3)

                February 18
                • Assassin's Creed II DLC: Bonfire of the Vanities (XBLM, PSN)
                  February 23
                  • Heavy Rain (PS3)
                  • Splinter Cell: Conviction (360) [delayed: April 2010]

For those in the music-scene, Story of the Year's new CD is out this month, as well as the Craig Owens-led supergroup Isles & Glaciers finally releases their EP sometime this month, as Craig said he "heard" it's supposed to release sometime in February.

New Releases : January : Holiday 2009, The Sequel

The month of January is always a welcomed one. It marks the start of a new year, and in this case, a new decade, and it's also a month that game publishers will dump their games if a more powerful game was released in November that will surely shit all over their sales.

                    Modern Warfare 2

This month is merely the beginning to what is now being referred to as a "dumping ground" for Modern Warfare 2's pitiful attempts at competition.

                    Bayonetta (360, PS3)

New Releases : December : Zelda Edition

Yep, that little guy. He's the big ticket this month. Other than that, it's a pretty bland month of game releases worth remembering. You've also got Pandemic's swan song, The Saboteur, as well as PixelJunk Shooter (which I cannot wait for). Asides from these games, there's really nothing else worth...oh yea, Silent Hill. Never was a fan of the series, but I bought Homecoming when it was dirt cheap at Best Buy. Never played it.

                    Thursday, December 3
                    Bayonetta Demo (XBLM, PSN)

                    Monday, December 7
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)

                    Tuesday, December 8
                    The Saboteur (360, PS3)
                    Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii)

                    Thursday, December 10
                    Dante's Inferno demo (PSN)
                    PixelJunk Shooter (PSN)

                    Thursday, December 24
                    Dante's Inferno demo (XBLM)

I don't even need a page break for this post. Hot damn!

New Releases : November : The Sequels to Everything Below Edition

I reposted this with an image and changed the name simply because I felt it fit better with the idea.

If you've been saving up, now's the time to make that four-figure withdrawal from your savings account. Everything you've been waiting for this month hits now. Except for The Saboteur and Zelda; that's next month.

Enjoy yourselves; list after the break. If you start calling out sick near the half-way point, I won't blame you. Hell, I might do it myself.

New Releases : October : Brütal Edition

                    Image via Joystiq, via EA

                    Here. We. Go!!

Month 2 of the Holiday season. September kicked things off with games such as Halo 3: ODST, Ninja Gaiden Σ II (I'm going to miss that sigma symbol) and Dead Space: Extraction. This month, Nathan Drake makes his long awaited return, along with Jack Black Eddie Riggs with Gay Tony holding down October's hind-end, but not before Ratchet & Clank makes a timely entrance.

Oh, and that over-priced, all digital handheld has it's debut. It has a name, but I..just...can't...OH! The PSPgo. That's right. Sorry, the $250 price tag and Sony backing out of the UMD-to-Digital conversion program pretty much left a knot on my head right where my interest for the device was.

                    1 - PSPgo (Sony)
4 - Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
7 - South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play! (XBLA)
                    13 - Brütal Legend (360, PS3)
                           Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
20 - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (PSP)
                    22 - Trine (PSN)
                    27 - Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (PS3)
Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (XBLM, Steam)
29 - Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony (XBLM)
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (360)

                    Just wait for November, bitches...

New Releases was made using my iCal account; dates are added once they are discovered. Many of the games listed above are those that have "struck my fancy" and do not necessarily cover all game releases. Games in italics have been added after the post's initial creation.

New Releases : September : Halo ODST Edition

Another new segment, which is a feature not new to many, categorizes many of the new releases in games this month. Of course, this isn't all, just the many releases I've kept tagged in my iCal for the longest time.

This month, we see additions to both musical instrument franchises, Sonic & Knuckles getting ported as DLC, and Wii fans can finally take hold of strategic dismemberment with their on-rails Dead Space prequel.

Sadly, Namco-Bandai forgot to look at the calendar when pegging a release date, as Forever is day-and-date with ODST. Seriously, who does this crap? Can't wait for the clusterfuck that is November 17.

                    1 - Guitar Hero 5 (360, PS3, Wii, PS2)
                         Section 8 (360, PC)
                         Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (PSP)
8 - Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii)
                    9 - The Beatles: Rock Band (360, PS3, Wii)
Sonic & Knuckles (XBLA, PSN, Virtual Console)
                    15 - Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (360, PS3, PS2, Wii, DS, PSP)
                           WET (360, PS3)
                    22 - Halo 3: ODST (360)
                           Katamari Forever (PS3)
29 - Dead Space: Extraction (Wii)
                           Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS)
                           Ninja Gaiden Σ II (PS3)

I've been waiting for a time to use the sigma character.
